Established in 2012 as ARK Laboratory, a once small, physician-owned toxicology lab has burgeoned into a dynamic 22,000-square-foot facility in just ten years. Under the leadership of Jim Grossi, ARK Laboratory became Helix Diagnostics in 2019 and quickly ascended into a full-service lab known for fast service, comprehensive testing options, and total accuracy.
Today, Helix Diagnostics employs over 160 team members to serve patients in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. Our expertise and breadth of testing include toxicology, hematology, chemistry, immunochemistry, urinalysis, coagulation, PCR, PGX, and more.
Owner & Visionary
James (Jim) Grossi is the owner of Helix Diagnostics. Jim’s vision is to build a legacy company that will disrupt the clinical laboratory space by focusing on community, people, and changing lives. He strives to cultivate and grow a company that behaves differently and elevates the industry.
Jim began his career as the youngest medical device salesperson for C.R. Bard. He found great success in the following years launching three disruptive medical technologies; a drug-eluting stent system, the first percutaneous aortic valve replacement and a device he raised from clinical trials to market ultimately to NASDAQ. Jim became a partner in ARK Laboratories in 2015 and in January of 2021, became the sole owner of what is now known as Helix Diagnostics.
Jim is a proud native of Flint, Michigan and is a graduate of the University of Michigan-Flint. He is passionate about Helix’s people and giving back to the community, especially those who are underserved. Jim’s unparalleled compassion leads him to support many area non-profits.
