To meet the needs of our patients who may have difficulty reaching our testing facilities or those who simply prefer the convenience of a specimen collection at home or a private location, our Home Collection Department offers mobile phlebotomy services.   

 

Physicians can request one of our trained and licensed phlebotomists to meet with you or a loved one in your home or business. Currently, we service Genesee, Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne counties. Please see the instructions below if you’d like to request a home collection for your patient.  

 

For the Physician: 

How to order a home collection: Orders can be faxed to Helix Diagnostics at 888-756-0534, or emailed to our Home Collection department at Homecollection@helixmdx.com. They can also be linked on our EMR, Copia.

 

Physicians can pre-order the patient’s test by entering the patient’s information (Name, DOB, Address Phone Number, and Insurance), then click in the “Home Collection” box. A ticket will generate with the Home Collection Department confirming a new patient that needs to be called and scheduled.  

 

The home collection order is then received by our Home Collection Supervisor upon which the patient will be contacted within 2 hours of the order being received at Helix Diagnostics. 

 

For orders sent over before 3 pm, the patient will be scheduled for the next day. For orders received after 3 pm, the patient will be scheduled within a 48-hour window. We do inform patients there is a 9 am to 4 pm time frame and that our collector will call them the morning of the collection with a better time frame. 

 

Lastly, the collector will call the patient 30 minutes prior to their arrival to collect their sample.
